Late goal does in men’s soccer in 2-1 loss to Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Jordan Haas broke a one-all tie with his second goal of the game to give host Washington College a 2-1 win over the Haverford College men's soccer team in a Centennial Conference match Wednesday night.

Hass snapped the deadlock in the 80th minute when his shot found the back of the net. Matt Wilfong assisted on the eventual game-winning goal.

Trailing 1-0, Haverford (3-5, 0-3 CC) forward David Restrepo scored his team-leading third goal of the year in the 58th minute on a breakaway. Midfielder Colin Lubelczyk played a long ball to spring Restrepo and earn an assist.

In the final 10 minutes the Fords turned up the offensive pressure by taking five of their game-total 15 shots, putting one on goal.

Washington (3-4-1, 1-2 CC) took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Haas scored after receiving a Wilfong pass.

Haverford's keeper Andriy Mshanetskyy made six saves. Washington's Chris Phipps recorded five stop.

Washington attempted 13 shots.

Haverford travels to Muhlenberg College for a Centennial Conference show-down Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
