HAVERFORD, Pa. - Senior Ford Bohrmann tallied the eventual game-winner as the Haverford College men's soccer team opened the defense of its 2012 Centennial Conference crown with a 2-1 victory over visiting McDaniel on Saturday afternoon at Walton Field in the conference opener for both clubs.

Knocking the Green Terror (5-1-1, 0-1 CC) from the ranks of the unbeaten, Haverford (5-1, 1-0) has now won the last four match-ups between the two schools.

The Fords opened the scoring with just under 15 minutes to go in the first half when senior Colin Lubelczyk connected with sophomore Sam Yarosh. Lubelczyk sent the ball into the middle from the left endline and Yarosh headed it past McDaniel goalie Zach Nibbelink (5-1-1) for his fourth of the season.

Lubelczyk forced Nibbelink to make his second save of the half three minutes later to keep the Haverford advantage at one at intermission.

Entering the contest averaging four goals per game, the Green Terror did not register its first shot on goal until almost five minutes had elapsed in the second half. Fords goalie Nick Kahn (5-1) turned away Raymond Boly's offering and Haverford proceeded to turn up the pressure on offense over the next several minutes.

Freshman Dorian Wirz blasted a shot towards the goal almost 12 minutes into second-half action. Wirz's scoring attempt was blocked but Bohrmann pounced on the rebound and fired the ball into the right corner of the net to give the Fords a two-goal cushion.

McDaniel junior Shane McCracken, the leading scorer in the conference, cut the Haverford lead to one with his ninth of the season six and a half minutes later. The Green Terror looked to add another but the Fords' defense, led by senior Adam Morollo, stood tall over the remainder of the contest.

Bohrmann's goal was his fourth game-winning tally of the young season and seventh goal overall. Eight of the senior's 11 career goals have been game-winners.

Haverford finished with 11 shots overall while McDaniel was limited to just seven.

Kahn made one save in the victory while Nibblelink registered three stops in the losing effort.

The Fords return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Arcadia University for a non-conference contest with the Knights beginning at 7 p.m. Haverford's memorable 2012 campaign ended on Arcadia's field against Stevens Institute of Technology in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
