KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Haverford College men's soccer team has been heating up as the Centennial Conference regular season draws to a close and coaches from around the country have taken notice. Earning a spot in the Division III National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/ Continental Tires national rankings for the second time this season, the Fords are ranked 18th in this week's poll.

Having won three straight games, the Fords (11-4-1, 5-2-1 CC) clinched their third consecutive playoff berth with a 2-1 home victory over rival Swarthmore this past Saturday in a rematch of last season's Centennial final. The Garnet entered the game ranked 18th in D-III, and without a conference loss, but Haverford did not back down from the challenge and continued its late season surge. The Fords' only setback in the last six contests came on Oct. 16 at the hands of Rutgers-Camden (16-0-2) which is currently ranked fourth in the nation.

Amherst College (11-0-2) ascended to the top spot in the rankings after residing in second for two straight weeks. Ohio Wesleyan (16-0-2) and Messiah (16-1-0) sit in second and third, respectively.
Messiah is the lone squad ranked ahead of Haverford in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Previously, the Fords were ranked 14th in the NSCAA's initial regular-season poll on Sept. 3.

Haverford closes out the conference regular season at Johns Hopkins University (7-7-2, 4-3-1) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
