Amorim to be Inducted into Southeastern PA Soccer Hall of Fame

Southeastern PA Soccer Hall of Fame announcement

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Longtime Haverford College men's soccer coach Joe Amorim was recently elected to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame. The official announcement was made earlier this week, while the induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 9. Previously, Amorim was also honored as one of two recipients of the 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association Excellence in Coach Award recipients.

Amorim served as the head coach of the men's soccer program at Haverford College from 1983 through 2008. His 215 career victories as head coach rank as the most all-time at the oldest organized college soccer team in the country.

The Fords' crowning achievement under Amorim's watch came during the 1988 season when Haverford defeated Elizabethtown, 2-1, capturing the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship. Under his watch, the Fords qualified for the postseason five times with Southeast Division crowns. The Fords went on to capture the MAC South Championship during the 1984, 1988, and 1992 seasons.
