Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Sam Yarosh has been named the Centennial Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals and assisting on another during the Fords' 2-1 start to the 2015 season. The weekly honor is the first of Yarosh's career.

The two-time team captain's strongest performance of the young season came in the most recent match when Yarosh recorded his first career hat trick in the 8-2 win against Rosemont. He also assisted on a goal for a career-high seven points against the Ravens. Haverford's eight goals in a single game was the most since the Fords scored eight goals against Ursinus during the 1997 season.

In addition to one of his goals being the game winner at Rosemont, Yarosh also tallied a go-ahead and game-winning goal against Scranton in the season opener with both of Haverford's goals during the 2-1 victory. His second goal in the home opener came with just over four minutes to play in regulation time. During the Fords' lone blemish on the schedule, a 3-2 defeat at the hands of No. 21 Scranton, Yarosh took three shots.

A four-year starter for the Fords, Yarosh has scored 21 goals in his Haverford career to go along with seven assists. His six game-winning goals are tied for 12th most in program history. Although this is his first player of the week honor from the conference, Yarosh is no stranger to Centennial Conference accolades having earned first-team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2013 and honorable mention status in 2012.

Men's soccer will have just one match this week as the team hosts Wesleyan (Conn.) this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Fords have won seven straight matches on Walton Field coming into the week and can tie the program record that has been reached four times previous with a victory this weekend. Between the men's and women's teams this season, Haverford is a perfect 3-0 on the newly-renovated Walton Field.
