Men's Soccer Sweeps Centennial Conference Weekly Awards

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A 2-0 record on the field led to a sweep of the Centennial Conference's weekly awards for the Haverford College men's soccer team. Brady Seitz was named the conference's offensive player of the week, while Sam Miller earned the nod as the defensive player of the week. Both Haverford honorees earned that same recognition during the 2014 season.

Seitz scored three of Haverford's four goals this week to lead the offense, a scoring streak that included both of the Fords' game-winning goals. The senior's week got started with both goals in Haverford's 2-0 win against Stockton. Stockton came into this past Wednesday's match as a team receiving votes in the NSCAA National Poll. Seitz scored early and late in the match to put the game away with a goal in the sixth minute and a goal in the 89th minute.

Haverford improved to 2-0 in the Centennial Conference with a victory against McDaniel this past Saturday. In that match, Seitz scored the first of Haverford's goals on a scramble in the box. His game-winning goal on Saturday gave him four on the season to rank second on the team behind previous Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week Sam Yarosh.

While Seitz was lifting the Haverford offense, Miller posted a pair of clean sheets during those 2-0 victories. The junior came up with four saves against Stockton during non-conference action and stopped three more shots in the conference victory against McDaniel. Miller has now posted three straight shutouts. He has now allowed a goal in his last 289:52 of playing time.

His two victories in goal now give him 19 for his career to rank sixth in program history. Miller is also sixth in program history with a 1.18 goals against average, while ranking fourth with 3.88 saves per contest.

Saturday's victory was the Fords' seventh straight home victory in Centennial Conference play. The Fords have not been beaten at home in Centennial Conference play since the 2013 season. Haverford has wins at home and on the road in conference play to start the young season. They will look to carry their success back on the road with trips to Washington College and Gettysburg this week. Men's soccer will travel to Washington on Wednesday, while making the trip to Gettysburg Saturday. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts.

The Fords are one of three 2-0 teams in the conference. Gettysburg is also unbeaten in the early portion of conference play, while Franklin & Marshall joins the Fords and Bullets atop the Centennial Conference standings.
