Men's and Women's Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Honor

NSCAA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's and women's soccer programs have been honored as 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award winners. A total of 315 men's college programs and 577 women's college programs were honored with this distinction.

The award recognizes teams that maintain grade point averages of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The NSCAA Team Academic Award honors teams based on their performances from the previous academic year, in this case the 2015-16 school year.

Haverford is one of just 222 schools that had both its men's and women's team honored with this award. Both the men's and women's team have earned this honor in each of the past 11 seasons. Over the past 20 years of this award, women's soccer has won this award 19 times, while the men have been honored 18 times.

In addition to the men being honored once again, they were also one of two teams in all of Division III to rank in the top 20 teams in terms of total GPA and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Amherst was the only other school to also accomplish that feat.

Throughout the Centennial Conference, Johns Hopkins and Washington College were the only other institutions to have both its men's and women's programs recognized with this academic team honor.
