Corkery, Masella Named NSCA All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and EAS Sports Nutrition announced that Haverford College men's soccer player Will Corkery and baseball player John Masella were named 2017 All-American Athletes. Last year, three Haverford athletes were named to the same award.

The award recognizes the students' athletic accomplishments and their dedication to strength and conditioning. The athletes were nominated by Haverford College's Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Cory Walts.

"I'm very proud of these two as their work ethic displayed in their strength and conditioning workouts translated to their sport, and also their life as they are two impressive young men," said Walts.

Corkery will graduate from Haverford as a co-captain of the winningest class in program history. An All-American on the field, he helped guide the Fords to three Centennial Conference regular season titles, back-to-back Centennial Conference Championships, and two NCAA appearances. Corkery was the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP during the Fords' 2015 championship run and was a three-time All-Centennial Conference selection. He was also named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team in each of the past two seasons.

Masella earned second-team All-Centennial Conference honors as a key reliever during Haverford's Centennial Conference Championship run in baseball a season ago. He was also a member of the Fords' 2014 championship team. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, Masella is currently second on the Fords with 11 relief appearances in 2017. He has struck out 10 batters during his 16.2 innings of work in the spring.
