Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Nick Jannelli doubled down on his late heroics during a pair of wins for the Haverford College men's soccer team this past week. Today, Jannelli was honored as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career. Last year's Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year and second-team all-conference selection previously earned that same award on October 3, 2016.

Jannelli had a hand in each of Haverford's four goals this week as he finished three of them and assisted on another as the Fords dispatched of Scranton 1-0 in overtime and overcame Franklin & Marshall by a 3-2 score. Perhaps even more spectacular was the way in which Jannelli scored his two game-winning goals on the week which give him an NCAA leading five game-winning goals so far this season.

In the non-conference matchup against Scranton, Jannelli knocked home a direct kick into the upper 90 of the goal with 42 seconds remaining during the first overtime session against the Royals who were ranked No. 18 in the D3Soccer.com Poll at the time. His goal came on his team-leading seventh shot attempt of the night.

Against Franklin & Marshall, the Fords' sophomore assisted on Ben Field's goal just four minutes after the Diplomats had taken a 1-0 lead. He then headed home a cross in the 59th minute to give Haverford a 2-1 advantage. The Diplomats scored in the 87th minute of play to tie the score, but once again Jannelli responded with a goal just three minutes later. His final goal of the week came with 52.2 seconds left in regulation during the eventual 3-2 victory against Franklin & Marshall.

Jannelli currently has eight goals and two assists for a total of 18 points through Haverford's first seven matches. He currently ranks second in the conference in both total goals and Centennial Conference goals. His overall point and shot totals are also second best among his conference peers. He currently leads the conference as the only player to convert two penalty kick chances.

Men's soccer will have two Centennial Conference road trips awaiting this week as the Fords travels to Muhlenberg on Wednesday and Gettysburg on Saturday. Both of those matches are set to get underway with 7 p.m. start times.
