NCAA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team is ranked seventh in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Soccer Region rankings released this week. Continuing with one of the highest strength of schedules in the region, the Fords also have three victories against regionally-ranked opponents which is figured into the rankings for the first time this week. These rankings ultimately lead up to the selection of at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Regional rankings will also be released next Wednesday, November 1 before the final release on Monday, November 6. That final ranking will be made public after the teams selected to the NCAA Tournament have been announced.

The Fords are 9-4-3 on the year with a 4-3-1 Centennial Conference record. This set of rankings takes into account "record vs. ranked opponents" for the first time this year. The Fords are currently 3-4 versus teams who are ranked this week with wins over Messiah (No. 1 in Mid-Atlantic Region), Elizabethtown (No. 10 in Mid-Atlantic Region), and Stevens (No. 6 in East Region). Each of Haverford's four defeats this season have come to regionally-ranked foes in Gettysburg (No. 3 in Mid-Atlantic Region), Johns Hopkins (No. 4 in Mid-Atlantic Region), Dickinson (No. 5 in Mid-Atlantic Region, and Drew (No. 6 in Mid-Atlantic Region).

Men's soccer will wrap up the regular season this Saturday against Swarthmore at 3:30 p.m. The Fords have already clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the seventh time in as many seasons under head coach Shane Rineer. The Fords get a shot at revenge against Dickinson in the conference's first round matchup next week. However, they can secure home field advantage in that contest with a win against Swarthmore and a Dickinson loss or tie against Johns Hopkins. Saturday's match will also be Senior Day for the six-member senior class of William Edwards, Ben Field, John Halifax, Russell Nicholson, Chris Richards, and Dorian Wirz.
