Ben Clark Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Ben Clark has been named the Centennial Conference's Defensive Player of the Week following the Fords' 2-0 shutout victory over Gettysburg on Sunday. A senior captain, Clark anchored the Fords' defense as it held Gettysburg scoreless for just the third time in 28 career meetings with the Bullets.

During Haverford's only match this week, Clark was part of a defensive unit that limited the Bullets to just five total shots. He was also instrumental in successfully clearing out six Gettysburg corner kick attempts as the Bullets got just one shot off during those balls played into the box. Gettysburg came into this weekend's Centennial Conference meeting averaging just under 16 shots per game. Haverford's victory handed Gettysburg its first conference defeat of the season.

Clark has been a starter during each of his four seasons with the Fords, making 52 appearances and 47 starts in his career to date. A second-team All-Centennial Conference defender a season ago, Haverford's defense has recorded a shutout in 22 of the 47 matches Clark has been a member of the starting XI.

Men's soccer is currently three points out of first place in the Centennial Conference standings but has played one less match to date then co-leaders Dickinson and Gettysburg who are both 3-1 in Centennial Conference play. The Fords will return to action this Saturday with a road trip to McDaniel that is slated for a 4 p.m. start in Westminster.
