HAVERFORD, Pa. – A pair of strong results against nationally-ranked competition has moved the Haverford College men's soccer team up to No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association national poll. The Fords, a team that has been receiving votes all year long, climbed three spots in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings and finds itself inside the top 25 for the first time this season. Haverford is also climbing the D3Soccer.com national rankings. The Fords garnered 34 more voting points than a week ago (50 in total) to improve their position among the teams that are receiving votes in that ranking.

The Fords started Centennial Conference play last weekend with a strong performance as they took down then-No. 3 and CC preseason favorite Johns Hopkins by a 1-0 score in Baltimore. In that contest, Kevin Kaufman scored midway through the first half while 11 saves from Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Dylan Ioffreda helped that tally stand up as the game-winner. During the midweek contest, Haverford tied then-No. 16 Rowan in a 2-2 final. The Profs scored with 24 seconds remaining in both halves of that match to salvage the tie.

Men's soccer is currently 3-1-2 overall to go along with its first win of the conference schedule. Haverford has another big week coming up as the Fords travel to Rutgers-Camden this Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match. The Scarlet Raptors are currently receiving votes in the latest D3Soccer.com poll after beating No. 19 Montclair State a week ago.

The Fords return home on Saturday to battle Franklin & Marshall in a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference Championship which went to the Fords by a 3-2 score in double overtime. That match is slated for a 1 p.m. start on Walton Field. The Diplomats are currently ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Association poll and No. 9 in the D3Soccer.com national rankings.
