HAVERFORD, Pa. – Nick Jannelli has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for men's soccer. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. An economics major, Jannelli is also one of 11 student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team, earning that distinction for the second consecutive season.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better. Jannelli is the second men's soccer player at Haverford to earn performer of the year honors, joining Sam Yarosh '16 who was the overall performer of the year for all men's sports in the area during the 2015-16 academic year.

Just recently announced as a second-team United Soccer Coaches All-American, Jannelli is the 19th multiple time All-American in program history. However, is the first during the NCAA Division III era as the last Fords player to be named a two-time All-American was Guyla Kovacsics '61 during the 1959 and 1960 seasons.

Earlier this fall, Jannelli became just the second player ever to win multiple Centennial Conference Player of the Year honors for men's soccer as he did so during both his junior and senior campaigns. Jannelli led the Centennial Conference with 30 points through the regular season as he scored 11 goals and assisted on eight others. It marked the second straight season in which Jannelli led the conference in points. Jannelli capped his career as a four-time All-Centennial Conference selection, earning first-team All-CC accolades three times.

Jannelli finished his Haverford career with 45 goals scored to go along with 24 assists. He holds the school record both game-winning goals (16) and penalty kicks made (11) for a career and became the first Ford this century to crack the 100-point barrier for his career as he was just the sixth player in program history to ever accomplish that feat.

Men's soccer finished its 2019 season with an overall record of 9-6-3, including a 5-3-1 mark in Centennial Conference action. The Fords made their ninth straight appearance in the Centennial Conference Tournament and hosted a home playoff match on Walton Field for the seventh consecutive season.
