Hulleberg 12th in 5,000; Fords 29th at NCAA indoor track & field meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Haverford College senior Anders Hulleberg finished in 12th-place in the 5,000 meter run Saturday evening at the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Capital University.

Hulleberg posted a time of 14 minutes, 50.54 seconds. Mike Spain of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater crossed the finish line first setting a new Capital Center Track record with a time of 14:17.42.

Hulleberg cruised with the lead pack hanging less than two seconds back from the leader through the opening 3,000, but he fell off his mid-2:50s pace over the final 2,000.

Hulleberg's finish, along with the distance medley relay's third-place finish Friday night, allowed Haverford to finish in a tie for 29th place with 6.0 points. North Central (Ill.) College captured the team championship accumulating 55.0 points, out distancing runner-up Central (Iowa) College's 44.0 points.
