Pair of Fords earns spots at NCAA men's indoor track championship

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA on Monday revealed the selections for the 2012 Division III indoor track & field championship and two Haverford College runners, senior Tim Schoch and junior Jordan Schilit, will represent the Fords at the meet hosted by Grinnell College at the Charles Benson Bear '30 Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa, on March 9-10.

Schilit heads into the championship meet as the second seed in the 5,000 meter run after posting a career-best time of 14 minutes, 16.37 seconds at the Boston University Terrier Classic in late-January.

Schoch is the ninth seed in the 800 meter run. His career indoor-best time of 1:52.97 was from the March 3 Last Chance Meet hosted by Columbia University at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.

Both Schoch and Schilit have All-American performances under their belts.

Schoch, the 2012 Centennial Conference indoor champion in the 800 and mile, was a member of the Fords' all-American distance medley relay in last winter's indoor NCAA meet and picked up another national honor with a sixth-place showing in the 1,500 at the outdoor national championship.

Schilit, the 2012 conference indoor champion in the 3,000 and 5,000, will be making his first appearance at an NCAA track national championship but is a two-time all-American for Haverford in cross country.
