HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College's Peter Kissin captured the men's 5,000-meter run Saturday afternoon at the Haverford Holiday Meet, posting Division III's fastest time -- 14 minutes, 39.50 seconds -- this winter. Teammates Christopher Stadler and Avi Bregman finished second and third, respectively, in the event with the nation's next two fastest 5K times.

Kissin (pictured), a cross country All-American in the fall, edged out his Haverford teammates Saturday in their first indoor action of the season. Stadler, also a cross country all-American, finished in 14:42.21 with Bregman close behind in a time of 14:43.17. Another Ford, Joel Christian, finished fourth.

The winning time by Kissin was less than half a second off his career indoor best while Stadler missed setting an indoor personal record by 0.36 seconds. Bregman shattered his indoor best by 22 seconds and Christian's time was also a PR.

Maury Lander-Portnoy recorded a fourth-place toss of 11.71 meters (38 feet, 5 inches) in the shot put Saturday to register a career-best throw, indoor or outdoor.

Ivo Milic-Strkalj was the other Ford competitor to nab a winning mark Saturday, getting his final indoor season at Haverford started with a first-place time of 4:20.30.

In Saturday's 800 meter run, the Fords' Greg Krause ran to a third-place finish posting his career indoor best. The time of 2:00.10 for Krause ranks 12th this winter on the D-III performance list in the event.

Sam Callon and Jonathan Yellets cracked the top five of Saturday's meet in the 400 with third- and fifth-place finishes, respectively. Callon added a ninth in the 200.

Yellets' freshman teammate, Jeffrey Ainsley, registered the second-fastest 60-meter hurdle time (8.82 seconds) at the Invitational, and posted a fifth-place finish in the long jump.

Haverford's next outing is more than a month away as the Fords are not in action again until Jan. 19, 2013, when they travel to New York City for the NYU Invitational at The Armory.
