New Centennial record nets Stadler the conference's runner of week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford College's Christopher Stadler set a conference record in the 3,000-meter run at the 2014 Haverford Invitational on Saturday afternoon, and his efforts earned the senior the Centennial Conference indoor track & field runner of the week award, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Jesse Poore of Johns Hopkins University earned the field athlete of the week honor.

Stadler's event-winning time of 8 minutes, 18.23 seconds surpassed the old conference mark of 8:20.7 set by Haverford's Karl Paranya in 1996.

The flat track at The Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House necessitates conversions to the 2014 standard of a banked track for NCAA-qualifying purposes and Stadler's converted time of 8:12.50 ranks as the fastest run in Division III this winter.
