Marquardt Posts Top DIII Indoor Mile Time at Boston Univ.

BOSTON – Junior Charlie Marquardt set a personal record at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday by running the mile in 4:04.76.

Marquardt's time beat his old personal best by over six seconds and is the best time in the NCAA Division III this season by over seven seconds. It's the 10th best time in Division III history.

The junior finished 24th out of 308 runners in the mile event that was filled with Division I runners.

The Ford now has two of the top 10 Division III times in the mile. He also has the best 3000m time (8:13.36) in Division III.

This season, the junior has already won two Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week award and was named the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association National Division III Men's Track Athlete of the Week two weeks ago.

The men's indoor track and field team will host the Keogh Invitational on Feb. 21. The Eddie Papalia '05 Memorial 800m run will take place as part of the meet. For more information on the memorial run, check out last year's preview.
