Men's Indoor Track & Field Moves Up to No. 15 in Computer Rankings

USTFCCCA Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released its second Division III Indoor Track and Field computer rankings. In the second ranking, the Haverford College men's indoor track & field team climbed one spot to No. 15.

The Fords currently have five individuals ranked inside the top 25 of their respective events contested to date. Headlining the current list is Charlie Marquardt, who ranks sixth in the 800 meters after his time of 1:54.70 that earned him Centennial Conference Runner of the Week honors after the Seamus McElligott Invitational. Liam Lynch was just behind Marquardt in Saturday's race and currently ranks 10th in Division III with a time of 1:55.51.

Dylan Verner-Crist and Nicholas Gandolfo-Lucia also made their mark on the national leaderboard following this past weekend's competition. The two hold down the 24th and 25th positions nationally in the 5,000 meters. Jeffrey Ainsley is also ranked 25th in Division III in the 60 meter hurdles with his best time of 8.42 seconds.

Haverford collected 42.72 points in this week's computer poll. A four-time All-American between cross country and track & field, Marquardt has yet to race in the mile or 3,000 meters this season. He posted the fastest times in Division III during last year's indoor season before electing to compete in the 3,000 meters where he placed fifth at the NCAA Championship.

Men's indoor track & field will next compete at the Villanova Invitational this Saturday, February 6. Contested in Staten Island, New York, the meet is set to begin at noon.
