Men's Indoor Track & Field Wins Six Events Against Widener

HAVERFORD, PA. -- The Haverford men's track & field team placed in the top spot in six out of 11 competitions in a dual meet with Widener at the Alumni Field House on Monday. The most dominant performance of the day was the distance medley relay.

Haverford's team (Henry Woods, Jonathan Yellets, Liam Lynch, and Charlie Marquardt) finished over five seconds faster than its opponents with a final time of 10:00.32. Widener's team came in at 10:05.37. That time is currently ranked first in Division III during the current indoor season.

In the 60 meters, Alex Frost narrowly edged his opponent by just over a tenth of a second to finish in first place with a time of 7.37 seconds. Frost's mark tied a career best set earlier this year in a separate dual with Widener. The Haverford junior later placed third in the 200 meters (24.15 seconds).

The Fords took three of the four top spots in the 800 meters, led by Tyler Fong's second place finish at 1:58.21. Peter Kurtz (1:58.89) and Julian Schneider (2:00.32) rounded out the top four.

In the mile run, Haverford placed in the top four spots and six of the top seven. Senior Nicholas Gandolfo-Lucia headlined with a first place finish at 4:23.33. Just behind him was Michael Brier (4:23.83), Ryan Gooding (4:27.01), and Graham Peet (4:28.34).

A pair of seniors led the 60 meter hurdles. Jeffrey Ainsley finished first in 8.38 seconds, followed by Dorvil Gabriel in 8.99 seconds. Ainsley also tied for the top spot in the pole vault at 3.45 meters to match freshman Greg Van Aken.

Men's indoor track & field is in action again this Saturday for the Keogh Invitational at the Alumni Field House. It will be Haverford's final event before the Centennial Conference Championships.
