Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Charlie Marquardt has once again been honored as the Centennial Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. This marks the third week in a row that the Haverford senior has been honored as the conference's top runner. This time, the distinction follows his performance in running the fifth-fastest mile in Division III history at the FastTrack National Invite last Friday.

Marquardt completed the mile run in a time of 4:02.24 to finish fifth in the race and first among all Division III runners. His time beat his previous personal record (4:04.76) by over two seconds and will stand as the second-fastest in school history to Karl Paranya '97 (4:00.96).

Marquardt has now received the honor 14 times in his career and six during the current season. He has also been named the Centennial Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week five times and earned the conference's outdoor track athlete of the week on three seperate occasions.

Last week, he was given the honor after breaking his own conference record for the 3,000 meters at the Villanova Invitational. The week prior, he finished the 800 meters in 1:54.70 at the McElligot Invitational to deserve the accolade.

Men's indoor track & field is in action again this Saturday for the Keogh Invitational at the Alumni Field House. It will be Haverford's final event before the Centennial Conference Championships.
