HAVERFORD, Pa. -  Haverford College Men's Track & Field junior Reza Eshghi has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday morning.

Eshghi earned the honor after posting a 4:13.76 mile time at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday evening. The Lincoln, Mass. native was the top Division III finisher in the event at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island, which saw 11 different DI Schools competing. The time is currently the 19th-fastest in the nation this season and is currently tops in the Centennial Conference by more than four seconds.

The Concord Academy product's performance came off of a fantastic 3,000-meter race a week prior, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational, also at Ocean Breeze. In the event, Eshghi set a blistering pace with a time of 8:27.96, marking a new personal best by nearly four seconds. The middle-distance runner outpaced Division I competitors from NJIT, Lafayette, American, and Rider in a commanding performance to capture the event crown.

The junior entered the indoor track & field campaign following a successful Cross Country season in the fall, where Eshghi was an NCAA Championship qualifier as the Fords captured a third consecutive Metro Region Championship.

You can catch Eshghi and the rest of the Haverford College Men's Indoor Track & Field team Saturday, January 27, at 10:15 a.m., when the Fords host the Seamus McElligott Invitational.
