Eshghi Finishes 13th at NCAA Championships, Earns Second Team All-America

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -  Haverford junior Reza Eshghi finished 13th overall in the preliminary heats of the men's mile at the NCAA Division III men's indoor track & field championship Friday afternoon. Competing at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, Eshghi earned Second Team All-America honors after finishing fifth in the first of two heats.

New for 2024, The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) updated its postseason award procedures to award finishers 9-16 Second-team All-America status. The official unveiling of those honors will be via a press release on Monday, March 11.

Eshghi competed in the first of two heats, narrowly missing direct qualification to tomorrow's final. Eshghi competed out of lane eight, and clocked a 4:12.68, just behind the final direct qualifier Ethan Domitrovich of John Carroll. The second heat got out a bit faster, with eight runners beating the top finisher in the first heat.

The junior from Lincoln, Mass. closes out a stellar season in which he posted the seventh-fastest indoor mile in program history and won the CC Championship for the men's mile while finishing with a silver medal in the 3,000 meters.

The Haverford Men's Outdoor Track & Field season will begin on Friday, March 29th at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pa.
