Men’s cross country has strong showing at Brooks-Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Racing amongst Division I, II and III opponents from across the nation, the Haverford College men's cross country team came in 30th of 42 teams at the Brooks-Paul Short Run Friday afternoon at Lehigh University. Haverford, currently ranked 21st in the country and fourth in the Mideast Region, was the third D-III team to cross the finish line. The Fords finished ahead of three other D-III competitors, including Dickinson and St. Lawrence who are currently ranked ahead of them in the national poll.

Haverford's top-five runners all finished within 33 seconds of each other. Anders Hulleberg led the pack with in a time of 25 minutes, one second, good for 107th place. Jordan Schilit came in six seconds behind Hulleberg in 126th place.

Reigning Centennial Conference Runner of the Week Joseph Carpenter was the third Ford to finish with a time of 25:24. The final two Scarlet and Black runners finished only four second apart as Phil Eiseman (25:30) and Chris Southwick (25:34) rounded out the scoring.

Twenty-seven Fords ran in the junior varsity race. Eric Arnold had Haverford's best finish, coming in 39th of 407 participants in a time of 25:54. Peter Kissin followed Arnold by two seconds, taking 42nd place.

Three more runners finished in the top-100 led by Elias Tousley (26:01) who came in 51st. Atticus Brigham (26:19) and Faraz Sohail (26:24) came in 84th and 91st, respectively.

The Fords will not race again until Saturday, Oct. 17, when they take on more Division I competition at the Princeton Invitational. The race starts at 10 a.m.
