Men's cross country does D-III proud among D-I crowd at Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Haverford College men's cross country team raced to a third-place finish of 13 teams Saturday morning at the Princeton Invitational as the Fords out-pointed nearly all of the Division I teams in attendance.

Haverford accumulated 74 points trailing only Texas (23 points) and host Princeton (69). Columbia (144) was fourth, followed by Xavier (164), Iona (174) and St. Joe's (189).

Anders Hulleberg and Jordan Schilit posted top 10 finishes at the race for Haverford. Hulleberg finished fifth in a time of 24 minutes, 40.30 seconds, and the sixth-place Schilit covered the 8-kilometer course in 24:41.80. Texas' Ryan Dohner was the individual winner in a time of 24:24.70.

Both Lucas Fuentes (15th, 25:01.50) and Joseph Carpenter (17th, 25:03.30) finished within the top-20 and Chris Southwick was 34th (25:19.90) to round out the five scoring places for the Fords.

The Fords will host the Haverford Invitational next Friday afternoon and then head to Baltimore two weeks later for the October 30th Centennial Conference championship meet.
