HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2011 season got off to a roaring start for the Haverford College men's cross country team Thursday afternoon as the team put it's first four runners in the top-10 and under the 20-minute mark for the 4-mile course at the Main Line Invitational hosted by the Fords on their Alumni Course.

Last season only three runners, all from Villanova, crossed the finish in under 20 minutes, but the 2011 race saw 10 runners crack that barrier including a quartet of Fords.

Jordan Schilit finished sixth with a time of 19 minutes, 42.86 seconds to lead the Fords. Last year Schilit completed the same course in 20:15. Joining him in the top-10 this year were teammates Tim Schoch (eighth, 19:46.73), Eric Arnold (ninth, 19:48.52) and Andrew Sturner (10th, 19:56.51).

Brian Sokas was next for Haverford in 12th place with a final time of 20:02.40.

Villanova's Brian Long raced to the front of the pack finishing with a winning time of 19:34.60. Four of Long's teammates also finished under the 20-minute mark and within the top 10.

Along with Haverford and Villanova, runners from Gwynedd-Mercy College and Widener University also competed in the meet. There were no team scores kept for the race.
