Centennial tabs Schilit for runner of the week honor

LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford College junior Jordan Schilit has been named the Centennial Conference's men's cross country runner of the week as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Schilit paced the Fords to a 16th-place finish last Friday morning in the Gold eight-kilometer race at the Brooks-Paul Short Invite. His time of 25 minutes, 4 seconds was 41st-fastest of over 400 mostly Division I runners to lead Haverford (489 points) to a finish that bested teams such as Yale (19th, 565 pts.), St. Joseph's (26th, 716), St. Lawrence (31st, 929; D-III No. 6), Shippensburg (33rd, 944; D-II No. 19), Penn (34th, 987), Lock Haven (39th, 1,072; D-II No. 13) and Temple (44th, 1,367).

Seven of the nation's top-22 D-I programs were part of the 45 teams in the Gold race won by fourth-ranked Oklahoma. Haverford and St. Lawrence were the only D-III institutions participating.

Schilit and the Fords head to Princeton, N.J., for their next meet, the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15.
