Donnelly named Centennial's men's cross country coach of the year

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference has named Haverford College's Tom Donnelly the 2011 men's cross country coach of the year, as announced by the league office Friday afternoon. Bobby Van Allen of Johns Hopkins University was named the women's coach of the year.

Donnelly, earning the award for the second straight season, coached the 2011 Fords squad to a conference team championship in early November. Haverford junior Jordan Schilit captured the individual title as the Fords placed their five scoring runners within the top six of the championship's finishers.

Schilit, the Centennial runner of the year, was joined on the all-conference first team by Haverford senior Eric Arnold, junior Peter Kissin, senior Tim Schoch, sophomore Brian Sokas and senior Andrew Sturner. Fords freshman Jeff Duncan, junior Ivo Milic-Strkalj and sophomore Chris Stadler raced to second-team all-conference honors.

Arnold, Kissin, Milic-Strkalj, Schoch, Stadler and Sturner also earned Centennial fall 2011 academic honor roll mentions.

The team championship is the 17th for Haverford and Schilit became the 14th Ford to win the individual Centennial title.

Haverford continues its season with the NCAA 2011 Mideast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Center Valley, Pa. Last season's Fords used team victories at the conference and regional meets to catapult to the 2010 NCAA title.
