Donnelly named Mideast region men's cross country coach of the year

NEW ORLEANS – Haverford College head men's cross country coach Tom Donnelly has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region coach of the year.

Donnelly's Fords will be making another trip to the NCAA championship meet after racing to a first-place finish at the NCAA 2011 Mideast regional meet on Saturday, Nov. 12, earning one of the region's two automatic bids into the national meet. The University of Wisconsin-Ohshkosh will host the 2011 NCAA race on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Haverford's berth in the 2011 championship race pushes the squad's consecutive season mark at nationals to 19. At the 2010 meet, the Fords captured the College's first NCAA title with Anders Hulleberg '11 winning the individual crown.

The 2011 Fords won the Centennial Conference championship on Oct. 29 and last week the conference announced Donnelly as it's men's cross country coach of the year. This year's region and conference honors for Donnelly mark the second straight year he has garnered coach of the year awards at those levels.
