Five Fords named to USTFCCCA all-academic cross country team

NEW ORLEANS – Five members of the Haverford College men's cross country team earned national academic recognition this week as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its Division III all-academic team.

The honorees include seniors Eric Arnold, Tim Schoch and Andrew Sturner, along with juniors Peter Kissin and Ivo Milic-Strkalj.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA all-academic team the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

By virtue of the Fords possessing five spots on the team, which is comprised of 141 athletes representing 80 institutions, Haverford earned the distinction of leading all of D-III for the second consecutive year. That impressive feat also helped the Centennial Conference lay claim to nine total spots on the list of honorees.

This marks the second year in a row Arnold has received the academic recognition while Schoch has merited the honor for three years straight. Sturner was also honored in 2009.
