Kissin and Schilit lead Haverford at Main Line Invite

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's cross country team rose to the challenge of competing against some of the best runners around Thursday evening at the Main Line Invitational hosted by the Fords.

Senior Peter Kissin led Haverford with a time of 19 minutes, 39.10 seconds to claim 13th place while classmate Jordan Schilit closely followed to finish 14th (19:41.80). Kissin and Schilit were the lone Division III runners to crack the top-15 in the four-mile race heavily populated by D-I runners. Running unattached, Hugo Bemish registered the winning time of 18:57.10. Six of the top-12 finishers represented Villanova University, currently ranked 20th in D-I.

Placing 16th and 17th, respectively, juniors Brian Sokas (19:49.30) and Christopher Stadler (19:54.90) joined Kissin and Schilit in the top-20.

Junior Avi Bregman (25th, 20:07.90) and freshman Charlie Marquardt (35th, 20:20.30) also registered top-35 showings.

Overall, seven of the top-10 D-III finishers were Fords.

Runners from LaSalle University, Gwynedd-Mercy College, Swarthmore College and Widener University also participated in the annual invite.

Next up for Haverford, ranked second nationally, is the Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Sept. 28. The race begins at 10 a.m.
