Men's cross country earns all-academic status

NEW ORLEANS - The Haverford College men's cross country team garnered 2012 Division III All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the organization.

Finishing in a tie for second as a team at the 2012 NCAA Championships with Calvin College, the Fords just missed earning the distinction of USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year for the third straight season. Calvin claimed the team honor by a slim .027 margin between the two schools' cumulative team grade point averages.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better. Haverford, boasting a 3.443 cumulative grade point average, was one of eight Centennial Conference schools and 141 institutions overall receiving the academic recognition.

It was another year of all-around excellence for the program as the Fords swept the Centennial and Mideast Region titles on their way to their ninth top 10 finish in the last 10 years.
