USTFCCCA National Preseason Coaches' Poll

Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford men's cross country team was selected 11th in the NCAA Division III National Preseason Coaches' Poll as released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad finished 10th in the final coaches' poll in 2013. The Fords are one of only three teams in the current preseason coaches' poll to have finished in the top ten each of the last five years. In 2013, the team placed third in the Centennial Conference Championship and took home a 10th place finish the NCAA national meet. Five of the seven runners who participated in the national meet will return for the 2014 campaign led by all-region honoree Charlie Marquardt.

The Fords has finished in the top-ten in the NCAA national meet five consecutive years and nine of the last ten seasons including winning the school's first team national championship in 2010. They have qualified for the NCAA Championship 21 straight years and have won the Centennial Conference 18 times in 21 seasons.

The Centennial Conference was one of only three conferences to have at least four teams ranked in the poll. Johns Hopkins, the defending conference champion, placed 7th, while Dickinson was selected 15th and Swarthmore was slotted 31st.

The men's cross country begins the 2014 season by hosting the Haverford Alumni/Open on Sept. 6 and the Main Line Invitational (Sept. 25). They will also host the Centennial Conference Championships on Nov. 1.
