Men's Cross Country Placed 14th in Latest NCAA Poll

USTFCCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country team is ranked No. 14 in the most recent weekly NCAA Division III National Coaches' Poll released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) today. Last week, the Fords were ranked No. 11.

The Fords have run in two events this season. On Sept. 7, junior Charlie Marquardt won the Haverford Alumni/Open with a time of 14:39.8. In that race, Haverford had seven runners finish in the top ten.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad also hosted the Main Line Invitational this past week. Marquardt paced the Fords with a ninth place finish in the event. The junior was the highest non-Division I runner with a time of 9:44.80, shaving 23 seconds from his time in last year's Main Line Invite.

Haverford is one of four teams in the Centennial Conference to be ranked in the poll. Defending conference champion Johns Hopkins is ranked 8th. Dickinson is slotted two spots ahead of Haverford in 12th while Swarthmore is 33rd.

The men's cross country team is back in action this Saturday at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh (Pa.) University with the meet scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
