Season Recap: Marquardt's Exceptional Season Paces Men's Cross Country

Signature Race: The Haverford College men's cross country team hosted the Centennial Conference Championship and won the team title for the 19th time in 22 seasons on Nov. 1. Junior Charlie Marquardt claimed the 17th individual title for the Fords in the conference's history. Senior David Roza finished just nine seconds behind Marquardt in second place while senior Joel Christian was third in the race. Senior Soren Rasmussen was sixth and sophomore Jimmy Gorman was ninth.

Season Notes: The Fords qualified for the NCAA Championship for the 22nd straight season … Roza ran a personal-best (24:55.3), finishing in a team-best 50th place at the NCAA meet … Marquardt won the Mideast Regional and Centennial Conference meets becoming the first Fords' runner to win back-to-back meets since Anders Hulleberg '11 in 2010 … Marquardt set a new course record (24:57.4) at the Big Spring High School at the regional meet and was one of only two runners in the 343 person field to finish the race in less than 25 minutes … The Fords have won the last five Centennial Conference individual titles … With four runners among the top seven finishers in the conference meet, Haverford now has 89 first team all-conference runners … Marquardt was the highest Non-Division I runner in the Main Line Invitational (Sept. 25) … Haverford finished second at the Lehigh University Paul Short Invitational (Oct. 4) … During the Princeton Invitational, the Fords were the highest non-Division I team in the field, placing 10th (Oct. 18).

Looking Ahead: Four of the seven runners that ran in the NCAA meet will return led by Marquardt as Haverford will look to reach the NCAA Championship for the 23rd straight time.
