HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 16 ranked Haverford College men's cross country team hosted the Main Line Invitational at the Alumni Cross Country Course on the Haverford campus on Friday afternoon, on a beautiful late summer day for racing. In addition to the Fords, LaSalle, Penn, Swarthmore, Villanova and Widener all competed in the four mile race through the Haverford campus.  The race featured 92 runners, including 53 from Division III. 

Henry Woods finished as the top Haverford harrier with a time of 20:02.5, second only to top Division III finisher Ernie Pitone of Widener (19:23.3). The time was ninth overall and a personal record in the distance for Woods. Finishing second for the Fords was sophomore Ryan Herlihy, who crossed the finish in a time of 20:40.8, a new personal best four mile time. Jimmy Gorman finished in fifth place with a time of 20:43.6.

Graham Peet (20:45.4) and Greg Morgan (20:52.3) rounded out the top five for the Fords, as Haverford finished with a spread of just 49.8 seconds between the scoring five. Dylan Gearinger (20:59.0) finished in eighth place and each of the three sophomores eclipsed their 2015 performance in the same race.

The three also bested the fastest Swarthmore runner on the day, John Gagnon, who finished in ninth. Michael Schach (21:06.3) rounded out the top 10 division III entrants on the day.  

Charlie Hale (21:07.6), Matt Willig (21:09.8), James Stadler (21:11.2), Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe (21:13.9), Peter Kurtz (21:16.7) and Julian Schneider (21:25.8) crossed in the 11th through 15th slots for Haverford.

Simon Perales was the top freshman finisher for the Fords, crossing in 18th place with a time of 21:28.9. Tyler Fong (21:38.9), Chris Goings (21:40.2), Evan Hamilton (21:51.9) and Lincoln Satterthwaite (21:52.8) all finished within the top 25 for the meet hosts.

Haverford will be back in action on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 am at the Paul Short Invitational. The meet, hosted by Lehigh University will take place at the Murray H. Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, Pa.
