Men's Cross Country Holds Steady At No. 20 In USTFCCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country team sits at No. 20 in the USTFCCCA national coaches' poll, tallying 132 votes, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Fords again were ranked as the No. 2 squad in the regional rankings behind Carnegie Mellon.

SUNY Geneseo stays ahead of North Central (Ill.) for the top spot in the national ranking, taking five of the eight first place tallies while North Central retains three votes. Williams, UW-Eau Claire MIT round out the national top five for the second straight week after a sleepy slate of action around the national landscape.

Haverford is the top Centennial Conference team nationally as Johns Hopkins moves up a spot to No. 21 and Dickinson up four spots to No. 29 in the national picture.

Carnegie Mellon held onto its top rank in the Mideast regional poll with 90 voting points. Haverford is second with 79. Johns Hopkins is third. Dickinson and Widener round out the top five in the Mideast region for the third straight week. York enters the regional poll at No. 6 after previously being unranked while Messiah checks in at No. 8 for the first time. Last week's new entrant Saint Vincent falls from seventh to ninth.

Head Coach Tom Donnelly's team will return to action at the Rowan Inter-Regional in Glassboro, N.J. on Saturday, October 15. The meet, hosted by Rowan University, will serve as a precursor to the final two home events of the year, the Haverford Invitational and the Centennial Conference Championships on October 29.  The starting gun is slated for 11:45 a.m.
