USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – After a bye week away from competition, the Haverford men's cross country team has maintained its No. 4 spot in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. Haverford received 259 points and earned the top spot in the Mideast Regional rankings for the second straight week.

North Central (Ill.) remains a unanimous selection as the No. 1 team in the nation, with SUNY Geneseo, UW-Lacrosse, The Fords and Pomona-Pitzer rounding out the top five. The top 15 spots in the poll remained unchanged from a week ago.

In the week's most significant movement, Carnegie Mellon moved up one spot, to No. 16 in the nation, overtaking Johns Hopkins as the second-ranked team in the Mideast region. Johns Hopkins fell to No. 17 and is the third ranked team in the Mideast region. Another Centennial Conference foe, Dickinson, remains the No. 34 team in the nation as well as fourth in the Mideast.

The Fords were last in action at the Paul Short Run Gold Race on Friday, September 29. Haverford took the top spot amongst all Division III teams en-route to a 17th place overall finish at the 8K meet on the campus of Lehigh University. Dylan Gearinger was named Centennial Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following the meet. Gearinger was the top Division III finisher in the 8K Gold Race. Haverford outpaced noteables No. 7 Amherst (25th), No. 9 Christopher Newport (27th) and No. 14 Williams (32nd) in the process along with several regionally ranked Division I squads. 

Haverford now heads to Saturday's Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle, a solid test before the Centennial Conference Championships on October 29. Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins and Dickinson will all be represented at the meet.

The men's championship race is slated to begin at 11:45 p.m. with the men's open race expected to kick off at 1:15 p.m.
