HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's cross country senior Ryan Herlihy has been named the Centennial Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

The award comes off the heels of a standout performance in the Paul Short Run Gold Race in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday morning. Herlihy finished as the top Division III runner in the 8K race, finishing the course in a time of 25:09, helping to propel the third-ranked Fords to a 10th place finish overall in the elite gold grouping.

The Fords outran Division III opponents No. 13 Carnegie Mellon (11th place), No. 9 Johns Hopkins (18th place), No. 11 Amherst (22nd place), and No. 28 Christopher Newport (35th place). Haverford also bested regionally-ranked Division I foes Lehigh, Penn, Saint Joseph's, La Salle, American, and notable names such as Georgia and UConn.

A two-time All-Mideast Region and first-team All-Centennial Conference finisher from Dennisville, N.J., Herlihy takes home weekly honors for the first time in his career. Herlihy finished third at both the Centennial Conference and Mideast Regional championships a season ago.

The Fords will now await the latest USTFCCCA regional and national rankings, which will be announced later this week. Haverford is idle this week before heading to the designated pre-national meet, the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational in Oshkosh, Wisc. on Saturday, October 13.
