Full Centennial Conference Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford men's cross country head coach Tom Donnelly has been named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year, the conference office announced on Thursday morning. The award is the eighth overall Centennial Cross Country Coach of the Year honor for Donnelly, and the fifth consecutive honor for the USTFCCCA hall of famer.
With finishes within the top seven, Greg Morgan, Ryan Herlihy, and Graham Peet, were each named first-team All-Centennial Conference. Dylan Gearinger finished eighth overall, picking up second-team honors.
Peet was named all-conference for the fourth consecutive season, achieving the feat in all four of his collegiate seasons, becoming the first Haverford runner to do so since Tim Schoch '12. Herlihy, Morgan, and Gearinger were all named to the all-conference squad for the third consecutive year. Jamie Moreland was named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year after crossing in 22nd overall to round out the top seven finishers for Haverford.
In addition, senior co-captain Ian Woodhouse was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team. One individual from each Centennial squad is selected for the award on an annual basis.
On their home course on Saturday afternoon, the Fords battled rainy and windy conditions to edge No. 6 Johns Hopkins for the Centennial championship. The title is the 23rd for the Fords in the 26-year history of the Centennial Conference, extending a run of conference meet dominance that has lasted more than two decades under Donnelly. Haverford scored 34 points, narrowly besting the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins, who scored 35. Dickinson finished third with 79 points, while Swarthmore (137 points) and Muhlenberg (151 points) rounded out the top five team finishers.
The fourth-ranked Fords will now have a little over a week to prepare to automatically qualify for the NCAA National Championships on Saturday, November 10 as the Mideast Regional heads to Center Valley, Pa. The DeSales-hosted meet will determine a regional champion while also awarding automatic berths to Nationals for the first and second place team finishers. The men's 8K race will begin at noon.
