Full Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford seniors Greg Morgan and Graham Peet were each named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon.
Morgan takes home the award for the first time, while Peet is a repeat winner after also earning the designation last May. In order to be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-District squad, a student-athlete must have sophomore standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
Morgan and Peet each wrapped up stellar careers at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend. A national champion at the 3,000 meter distance during the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, Morgan closes his Haverford career as a four-time All-American, as he earned that distinction at least once during each of his three running seasons with the Fords, helping lead Haverford to a fourth-place national team finish in cross country last season.
The Hollidaysburg, Pa. product was Haverford's 2019 Varsity Cup winner, Haverford's highest athletic award, presented annually to the outstanding athlete in the senior class. Morgan was named the Mideast Region and Centennial Conference Track Performer of the Year during the 2019 indoor season, and will graduate as a six-time Centennial Conference Champion, 15-time All-Mideast Region, and 16-time All-Centennial Conference performer.
The computer science major was an exemplary student at Haverford, as he was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team for the spring 2018 track campaign, as well as the fall 2018 cross country season. A five-time Centennial Conference Honor Roll selection, Morgan earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in each season of eligibility.
Peet, the Reigning Centennial Conference Track Performer of the Year after capturing the 10,000 meters and the 5,000 meters at the conference championships, recently became the 18th 10,000-meter national qualifier in program history. The Vashon, Wash. product was an All-American finisher in the steeplechase a season ago, crossing in third in that event, was an All-American during last fall's cross-country season. Peet was named the 2017 Mideast Region Cross Country Athlete of the Year and is just Haverford's 12th four-time qualifier to the national meet in cross country.
The biology major took home the 2019 Kannerstein Award, for the individual whose combination of outstanding athletic achievement and leadership has been a significant factor in a team's competitive success and whose level of performance has brought distinction not only to the individual but also the entire athletic program. Peet has been a model student-athlete, taking home the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year award in 2017 for cross country and 2018 for track & field. Peet was also the Centennial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2017 for cross country, and earned the aforementioned CoSIDA Academic All-District honor after the 2018 campaign.
The duo is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District ballot, where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be voted upon into early June. Last season, Dylan Gearinger and Henry Woods were each named CoSIDA Academic All-America, becoming the first honorees at Haverford since 2006.
