Men's Cross Country Takes Team Title at Dan Talbot Open

MEDIA, Pa. - The 20th-ranked Haverford College men's cross country team participated in the Dan Talbot Open at Rose Tree Park in Media on Saturday morning, taking the event title with the top score of 26, well in front of second place Jefferson. Haverford also outlasted competitors from Immaculata, Lincoln, Bryn Athyn and Williamson to come away with the title in the Bryn Mawr-hosted meet. 

The top Haverford finisher in the 8K race was senior Jeffrey Allen, as the Los Angeles native delivered a time of 30:30.5 on the hilly course for a second place overall finish. Seamus Flannery crossed in fourth with a time of 30:55.8, while first year Lucien Dalseth crossed in sixth overall (31:22). Caesar Dai had a strong showing, taking an eighth place finish in 31:59.0. 

First year Seawon Park then made his 8K debut in impressive fashion, notching an 11th place performance in the race with a time of 32:39.9. Michael Franco (33:03.7) and Rowan Shigeno (33:11) finished in 14th and 15th, respectively, while a group that included Kieran McDonnell (34:02.4) and Sam Diaz (34:19.3), were next to cross in 17th and 18th. Jay Whitesell finished 20th in 34:20.9, while Keqing He was the 25th runner to toe the line in 35:22.3. Rounding out the Haverford finishers was first year Tommaso Wheeler, who crossed in 34th overall with a time of 37:20.3. 

Men's Cross Country is next in action at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on October 16. The meet, which will serve as a Metro Region course preview, is slated to begin at 11:45 a.m. in Logan Township, N.J.
