Full Centennial Conference Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Two-time defending Metro Regional Champions have been slated to finish second in the Centennial Conference according to the 2023 Centennial Conference Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll.
National No. 18 Haverford received three first place votes for a total of 59 voting points, just narrowly behind defending conference champs Johns Hopkins (62 voting points). Dickinson was projected to place third with 48 points, while Swarthmore (44) and Ursinus (37) completed the top five. Franklin & Marshall (24), Muhlenberg (19), McDaniel (18) and Gettysburg (13) were picked to finish sixth through ninth, respectively.
The Blue Jays (33 pts) narrowly defeated the Fords (36 pts) at last year's meet at the Alumni Cross Country Course, marking the third time in the last four seasons that JHU and Haverford were separated by single-digit points. The two sides have gone back-and-forth over the past four seasons, with Hopkins hoisting the trophy in 2022 and 2019 and Haverford taking the crown in 2021 and 2018.
Haverford welcomes back a pair of 2022 All-Centennial first-teamers - Peter LaRochelle and Miles Colescott. Overall, the Fords still lead the conference with an impressive 24 titles in the Centennial's 30 years of existence. Hopkins (3) and Dickinson (2) are the other two squads to capture CC titles.
Men's Cross Country will open the 2023 season with the annual Alumni Open on Saturday, September 9 before hosting the Main Line Invitational on Friday, September 15. Both races are slated for 5:30 p.m starts at the Alumni Cross Country Course on the Haverford campus. The Centennial championship meet is set for Saturday, Oct. 28 at McDaniel.
