No. 19 Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Main Line Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 19th-ranked Haverford Men's Cross Country team returned to the Alumni Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon for the Main Line Invitational, finishing second out of five teams, behind only Division I Penn, who captured the meet title with 21 points. Haverford scored 49 total points, well clear of third place Swarthmore, who tallied 79 points. Widener (105 points), and Muhlenberg (150 points) rounded out the team standings. 

Haverford was paced by junior Peter LaRochelle who crossed the finish in second place overall, and was top attached finisher on the afternoon. LaRochelle toed the finish line in 19:43.7, 10.9 seconds ahead of the third-place individual finisher Kai Mitchel-Reiss. 

Finishing second for the Fords was senior Nathaniel Leighninger, who crossed in 20:23.9 for 14th overall, while the third to score for the Fords was sophomore Micah Lachman, who posted a time of 20:43.7 for 24th place. 

Rounding out the Haverford scorers were juniors Reza Eshghi (20:49.1) and Seamus Fraser (20:58.8), who crossed in 29th and 30th overall, respectively. Just outside the scoring finishers was Matthew Denton in 30th (21:00.5) and Evan Daniels in 31st (21:02.4). 

Jakob Maiwald crossed in 35th (21:09), Luca Ponticello was 39th (21:15.5), Sammy Schindel was 46th (21:35.1), and Reed Solomon also finished within the top 50, crossing in 48th (21:37.9). Joseph DeRosa (21:58.2, 59th), Owen Bluman (22:06.6, 61st), Luke de Valpine (22:10.7, 63rd), William Harris (22:12.9, 65th), Torin Pelton-Flavin (22:23.6, 67th), Rowan Shigeno (22:30.8, 70th), and Deven Abrams (23:11.3, 75th) also finished within the top 75 for the Fords. 

Men's Cross Country will return to action on Saturday, September 30 at the prestigious Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University. The meet is considered the largest collegiate cross country meet on the Eastern Seaboard. Events are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
