HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford Men's Cross Country junior Peter LaRochelle has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday morning.

The Great Barrington, Mass. native earned the award after he finished second out of 85 competitors at the Main Line Invitational this past Friday, and was the top attached finisher in the meet.

LaRochelle completed the four mile trek in 19:43.7, finishing 10.9 seconds ahead of the third-place individual finisher Kai Mitchel-Reiss. LaRochelle outpaced two Division I runners in Dennis Fortuna from Penn (20:02) and LaSalle's Alex Sandras (20:03.9). The trio were the only three attached runners in the top 10 finishers.

LaRochelle's result helped 19th-ranked Haverford finish second out of five teams, trailing only behind Division I Penn, who captured the Main Line Invitational title with 21 points. Haverford scored 49 total points, well clear of third place Swarthmore, who tallied 79 points. Widener (105 points), and Muhlenberg (150 points) rounded out the team standings.

You can catch Men's Cross Country back in action on Saturday, September 30 at the prestigious Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University. The meet is considered the largest collegiate cross country meet on the Eastern Seaboard. Events are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
