Women's Basketball Runs By Bryn Mawr

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team ran away from the Bryn Mawr College Owls, 77-35 at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Haverford held Bryn Mawr to 11-of-55 (20.0 percent) from the floor. Senior Olivia Walsh registered four three-pointers to lead the Fords with 13 points. Freshman Katie Cook missed just one shot in scoring 11 points. Sophomore Samantha Wetzel had six points, six rebounds and five blocks in the win.

The Fords started quickly scoring 12 of the first 13 points, leading by as many as 19 in the first quarter. In the second stanza, Haverford's stellar defense held Bryn Mawr without a basket for the first 6:54 of game time. Head coach Bobbi Morgan's team shot a stellar 20-of-35 (62.5 percent) in the first 20 minutes of the game, helping itself to a 51-15 halftime lead. The Fords continued their spectacular effort on the defensive end, holding Bryn Mawr to seven points in the third quarter en route to a 77-35 victory.

The visitors almost doubled up their opponent in rebounds (50-26) with 12 different Fords snagging a rebound. Haverford blocked 10 shots and dished out 15 assists. Every player for Haverford scored in the victory.

Tonight's win wrapped up the 2015 portion of Haverford's schedule with the team taking a break for finals and the holidays. The Fords will get back in action vs. No. 11 nationally ranked Montclair State at the Gooding '84 Arena on Jan. 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
