HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford junior forward Sierra Berkel has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the Centennial Conference office announced on Monday afternoon.  The honor is the second career weekly recognition for the Flushing, N.Y. product. Berkel was also named Centennial Conference Player of the Week during her freshman season, taking home the honor on December 15 of 2014.

Berkel averaged 17.0 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent from the floor in a 3-0 week for the Fords. She tallied 15 points with six boards, two assists and three steals in a 60-55 win against Gettysburg, and followed that with a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double in the 49-43 win at McDaniel, setting new career highs in each category. Berkel capped the week with a 16 and nine performance in a 61-54 win against Johns Hopkins.

The Haverford tri-captain currently sits in the top ten in the conference in points per game (12.5), rebounds per game (8.8), and field goal percentage (70.6) while the Fords have moved into first place in the Centennial with five straight conference wins.

Haverford, in the midst of a five game overall winning streak, will play host to Immaculata on Monday evening, in a 6:00 p.m. non-conference tilt at Gooding '84 Arena. The Fords will then make the trek to Tri-Co rival Swarthmore on Wednesday to resume conference play in a 6:00 p.m. contest.
