GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team made the trek to Bream Gym on the campus of Gettysburg College on Tuesday evening, coming away with a 67-56 win over the host Bullets, a squad that was previously unbeaten in Centennial Conference play.  The contest featured five ties and 12 lead changes before a fourth quarter surge put the game away for the Fords.

Samantha Wetzel had a game-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Defensively, Wetzel was a force in the paint with four blocks. Wetzel has scored in double figures in all but two games this season. Sierra Berkel (12 points, 9 rebounds) and Julianna Clark (11 points, 3-5 on three-pointers) each also excelled for the Fords. Haverford is now 9-2 on the season (6-1 CC) while Gettysburg falls to 10-2 (6-1 CC).

Haverford started the game on a 12-3 run, with Maddie Gallic drilling a three-pointer with 3:32 left in the opening stanza to give the visitors a nine point advantage. In the second quarter, a Raina Gully layup gave Haverford a 16-9 advantage, but the Bullets rallied to tie the score at 24-24 with 2:36 remaining in the first half.

Ashley Gehrin knocked down a trey for a 27-24 lead with 1:52 left in the half, capping an 11-2 run for Gettysburg. Wetzel made a pair of free throws to cut the Gettysburg lead to just one at 27-26 entering the halftime break.

The third quarter saw the Bullets pull to a 36-31 advantage following a Gehrin jumper with 5:31 left. Berkel and Katie Cook each poured in layups before Wetzel knocked down a shot to restore the Haverford lead at 37-36 with 4:26 left. With 1:55 remaining in the period, Emma Dorshimer completed a three-point play for a 43-39 lead, but threes from Anna-Sophia Capizzi and Clark helped knot the score at 45-45. Wetzel converted a jumper for a 47-45 lead through three quarters of play.

Kiera Cesaero knocked down a three to open the scoring in the fourth, giving Gettysburg a brief lead at 48-47 before the Fords unleashed a dominating 16-3 run that saw the momentum of the contest completely shift in the favor of the visitors. The run included back-to-back threes from Clark, who netted a career best with 11 points.

Haverford was able to force Gettysburg to foul with the double-digit advantage, sealing a 67-56 victory with success at the free throw line in the waning moments of the contest.

Emily Gibbons (11 points, 10 rebounds) had a double-double in a losing effort for the hosts.  Dorshimer (13 points) and Gehrin (12 points) also scored in double figures for Gettysburg.

The Fords were victorious over Gettysburg for the 10th time in the last 12 matchups between the two programs dating back to the 2013-14 campaign. The Fords have a quick turnaround, hosting McDaniel on Thursday inside the Gooding '84 Arena. The contest is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Haverford won both meetings against the Green Terror a season ago.
