Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Release

PHILADELPHIA – Haverford College women's fencers Katie Bradley and Anna Neuheardt have both been voted to the 2018-19 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area at-large team. The all-area team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The at-large teams take into account those student-athletes from area schools whose sports do not have a dedicated Academic All-Area team. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Bradley and Neuheardt joined women's squash captain Kaitlin Reese on the women's at-large team to give Haverford three student-athletes honored. That tied with Temple's three selections for the highest representation of any College or University in the Philadelphia area.

Bradley was named a second-team All-EWFC epee fencer for the second straight season as a junior. She earned EWFC All-Star status for the second straight season after going 14-1 during the team portion of that championship meet. Bradley is now a three-time NCAA Regional qualifier after joining the team as a walk-on. She placed 29th at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional this year, a regional that is widely considered the toughest of the NCAA's four regionals. Bradley is a double major in Classical Culture & Society and History at Haverford.

Neuheardt, a senior captain, has laid a foundation of success for the women's fencing program for years to come as both an athlete and a leader. A three-year regional qualifier entering her senior campaign, Neuheardt was limited in competition. Nevertheless, she still graduates from Haverford as a two-time EWFC All-Star (2017, 18) in addition to her regional accolades on the sabre squad. Neuheardt will graduate from Haverford this spring with an economics major and statistics minor.
