Women's Fencing Goes 2-1 at D'Arnstein '09 Invitational
HAVERFORD, Pa. -  The eighth annual D'Arnstein '09 Fencing Invitational was held this past Saturday, Dec 9, in the Alumni Field House on the Haverford campus. The Fords notched wins against familiar foes Bryn Mawr and Drexel both by scores of 15-12, before suffering a 26-1 defeat to Johns Hopkins.

Epeeists Payton Wagner and Sophie Stamicar both made their competition debuts, with Wagner nailing down a win against Drexel. Fellow walk-on Annalise Sandrich also got her first collegiate win against Bryn Mawr.

Leading all fencers on the day with a 7-2 record, foilist Sophie Gardiner was also responsible for the team's sole win against Hopkins, like a spartan at the hot gates.

Becca Osbaldeston led the sabre squad with a 5-5 record, and Nina Hamilton led the epeeists with a 4-3 record.

The Fords will wrap up their fall semester with the Iron Being tournament this week, and will return for their Winter training camp in early January. Their next official competition will be at the Penn State Invitational on January 14, taking on the Nittany Lions as well as Duke, Yale, Penn, Temple and North Carolina.
